SLM Toyota Uckfield Secures Grant For Rocks Park Primary School

Rocks Park Primary School will be able to improve their pond area and more.

  • Here at SLM Toyota Uckfield we are extremely pleased to have secured a grant of £1,750 from the Toyota Fund For A Better Tomorrow to help Rocks Park Primary School in Uckfield restore and improve their pond area.

The area is currently out of bounds but the improvements will begin over the summer lead by Will Hunt, whose son Freddie is in Year 1 at the school. Other parents will also help with the project. The aim is to clear the area around the two ponds and a bridge will be built to join them, with railings on both sides to keep the children safe. From the bridge they will be able to do pond dipping with nets.

The pond will be the latest addition to the school's plans to introduce more outside learning. They have already built an outside classroom and the next plan is to turn a piece of land between the pond and classroom into a garden, with areas for digging and mud play. \

Deputy Headteacher Charlotte Rowland (pictured top centre) commented: "What is wonderful about nature is that it changes throughout the year and there is always something different to look at. We need to embrace the world we live in. We need to educate children about the environment so they grow into responsible adults.”

The cheque was presented to the school by General Manager Paul Hardwell and Marketing Manager Mel Ball. Everyone at SLM is so happy to be able to give back to another fantastic local project that will really make a difference to people liviing in the local area.
