Bexhill Cricket Club Summer Update

  • SLM Toyota Hastings is a proud sponsor of Bexhill Cricket Club and we are pleased to say that they are already having an exciting and successful season! Club Development Manager, Hamish Russell has provided us with an update on the club's progress. Read below to find out more: "We are in full swing with five Saturday teams all in action and seven junior teams playing. With Bexhill playing 12 games a week on average across all ages it's go go go. Our first and second XI have won their first round matches in the Sussex T20 Cup and now play their second round games next weekend. Our third, fourth and fifth XI's are all excelling with some good victories whilst the junior teams are all hovering around the top of their junior leagues. The season is only five weeks old but one of our batsmen has made not one, but two centuries already. Tom Powell has made 100+ runs against both Rye CC and Hastings Priory CC. A very decent effort. Now a hatrick in cricket is a rare and special thing but three Bexhill cricketers have so far enjoyed one of these this summer which is an amazing achievement in itself. However something makes these three even more special: Hollie Young who is a Bexhill junior player took a hatrick for Sussex County Cricket Club Under 12's ladies team against Kent ladies. Jamie Bristow-Diamond and Andrew Jay both took a hatrick on the same day for Bexhill although in different matches. Jamie took his representing the second XI whilst Andrew took his in the fourth XI. Congratulations to all three of them. Finally, our Australian overseas player, Dean Crawford (pictured) took seasons best bowling figures of 6/26 in the first XI victory against Billingshurst in the Sussex Premier League on Saturday. Hopefully a sign of things to come." We look forward to hearing more updates soon!
